Overviews & Concepts

Overviews and Concepts docs provide explanatory information about a feature or characteristic of Globus.

These docs serve the reader’s broader understanding of the Globus platform.

Clients, Scopes, and Consents

The Clients, Scopes, and Consents overview provides a summary explanation of key pieces of the Globus Auth authorization and authentication model.

Built on the OAuth 2 standard, Globus Auth uses these concepts to manage access between a complex network of applications. The overview explains what each entity is and how they interrelate.

Collections and Endpoints

Collections and Endpoints describes the difference between a Collection and an Endpoint.

These two objects are central to the Globus ecosystem for file management, and are often and easily confused because they are closely related. This doc explains the difference and offers some guidance to clear up confusion.

High Assurance

The High Assurance Walkthrough covers the features which Globus offers to manage protected data.

High Assurance features are available to subscribers who add High Assurance or HIPAA BAA tier to their subscriptions.

Globus Auth Requirements Errors (GAREs)

The Globus Auth Requirements Errors (GAREs) overview provides information regarding a Globus service error format that provides clients with instructions indicating how to modify a user’s authorization state in order for a given request to succeed.
