File Management How-Tos

These documents cover how to move files between Globus Collections and share data with other users.

These guides will generally use Globus-provided Collections for demonstration purposes. Users interested in file management capabilities will also be interested in

  • Globus Connect Personal, which allows you to create a Globus Collection on any PC or laptop.

  • Globus Connect Server, which allows system administrators to enable users to create Globus Collections on servers and multi-user systems.

Getting Started With File Transfers

The File Transfer Tutorial will show you how to log into Globus and use it to transfer files reliably and securely. You will become familiar with basic Globus concepts and interfaces, and begin to experience how Globus can help you spend more time on your research and less time on data management.

Sharing Data With Other Users

The File Sharing Tutorial covers how to share data with your collaborators using Globus Guest Collections. You will become familiar with data sharing and access management, which allow you to designate other users and groups who can access your data.
