Domain Migration to gaccess.io
Last Updated: July 16, 2025
1. Overview
Globus Connect Server installations are automatically issued a default domain by Globus to enable HTTPS access to the Globus Connect Server API and data on collections.
Globus is now issuing these default domains under gaccess.io
. They were
previously issued under dn.glob.us
until June 22, 2020 and then
data.globus.org
until July 16, 2025.
The move from data.globus.org
to gaccess.io
is being made in order to
support a clear separation of assets that are managed at institutions in the
default gaccess.io
domain and Globus-managed resources in the globus.org
domain.
2. New Installations
All Globus Connect Server installations made after July 16, 2025 will automatically
be issued domains under the gaccess.io
domain. No additional action will be
needed for these installations.
3. Existing Installations
There is currently no impact on existing installations with data.globs.org
or dn.glob.us
default domains. Over the next year, Globus plans to migrate
all Globus Connect Server default domains to the gaccess.io
subdomain.
As migration tools become available, this document will be updated with timelines and instructions for existing installations to migrate.
